3D Printed Mask Painted in Satin Black
A 3D Printed Mask Finished in Satin Black Paint
This 3D printed mask was painted in satin black at our Stone, Staffordshire workshop. The design is a replica of the carved wooden mask from the film The Mask, with deep grooves running down the face, open eyes and mouth, and a studded strap down the centre of the forehead. A 3D print shows its layer lines under a bold colour, so the surface was prepped and primed first to give the paint an even base while keeping every carved groove crisp.
Satin black suits a piece like this because it keeps the detail readable without the glare of a gloss finish, so the texture of the grain catches the light as the mask is turned. We paint and hydro dip 3D printed parts for makers, cosplayers and product designers, from single props to small production runs, and every part is prepped, painted and finished by hand.
