Carbon Fibre Inside and Out on a BMW E46 Convertible

This BMW E46 convertible was given the carbon fibre treatment both inside and out, with the parts hydro dipped at our Stone, Staffordshire workshop. Inside, the dash strips, the centre console and gear surround, the radio surround, the headlight switch trim, the door pull and even the backs of both front seats were finished in a gloss carbon weave that stands out against the beige leather. Outside, the front splitter and its side sections were dipped to match, giving the lower front end a sharper, more purposeful look.

An E46 interior mixes lots of small trims with larger panels, so the weave has to run in the same direction and at the same scale on every piece for the finished cabin to read as one consistent set. The splitter takes more punishment, sitting close to the road where stone chips and kerbs are a constant risk, so a durable lacquered finish matters as much as the look.
