Dark Brass Painted Air Vent Grilles

A set of long linear slot air vent grilles came into our Stone, Staffordshire workshop to be refinished in a dark brass paint finish. Each grille has an outer frame and a row of parallel slats held by cross supports, so every edge, inside face and narrow gap needs even coverage to look right once it is fitted. The grilles were masked and laid out in the spray booth, and built up to a smooth, low-sheen dark brass with a subtle metallic warmth that sits somewhere between bronze and graphite.

Painted grilles are a simple way to tie ventilation into a room rather than leaving plain white or bare metal on show, and dark brass works especially well alongside warm timber, stone and matt black fittings. Because vents get handled during fitting and cleaning, the finish has to stay tough on the slats and edges, not just look good laid flat on a bench.
